Through the Garden Gate

Newport in Bloom’s Through the Garden Gate event is held every two years and is the group’s biggest fundraiser.

In 2017 14 gardens were opened to the public and, despite the disappointing weather, a total of £3039 was raised.

Plants were on sale at Chetwynd Road, music was on offer at Chetwynd Grove and refreshments in the form of cream teas and magnificent home baked cakes were available in marquees at Station Road and Cheney Hill.  Alison Wakeman, aka “The Bee Lady”, brought her demonstration hive and gave a very interesting talk at the Meadowview Road allotments.  All in all, this was an excellent day out for all the family.

If you have a garden with some interesting features and you would consider opening to the public in 2019, please do contact us.  Many of our gardens open each time, but we are always pleased to welcome newcomers.

Spring Street Collection

Newport in Bloom raised a record £435 in just 4 hours and lost count of the kind comments made to the volunteers during the course of the morning.

It was reassuring to get such positive feedback and to know that so many of the public are equally outraged by the recent acts of vandalism.

Thank you Newport, for your continuing support
